The truth is, it's INFINITELY easier to sell a $997 website to a local accountant, doctor, lawyer, landscaper, psychic reader or yoga teacher than it is to sell ONE $97 eBook to a random blog reader or web visitor.
More importantly... it's also much easier to build back end, high value (and high dollar) services and offers once you've earned someone as a customer or client in the first place.
For example - do you think a local attorney who buys a blog you built might also be interested in having you create content for him (or her) every month in the future?
Or they may also be interested in SEO, or strategy sessions, or list building advice, or newsletter creation or any of the other cacophony of creative services you can offer someone who has already purchased one of your products?

And that is really just the beginning, as you can truly offer "back end" services that enhance your ability to deliver value, while enhancing your own profit per sale at the same time (about 35% of your first time buyers will buy more from you in 12 months if you are simply "average").
Do you think it's not FAR easier to get referrals and new clients in your local community than it is to get the same from a random audience online?
The truth is, in my own business....when it comes to bankable income, the difference between focusing on local professional "talent" who needs real help, and just offering "online marketing" advice to the masses is night and day.
You CAN build one hyper local, hyper targeted blog or website in 2 or 3 days that has real value to a local professional in your community and sell it for $997 or MORE with ease.
The hard cost to "launch" that website from scratch? Less than $50 (and that includes hosting, domain name a blog and a premium template).
If each client you build one of these for spends a few hundred dollars a month with you in on going content or consultation, you only need about 20 clients to earn $75- 100K your first year in business (really easy, and that doesn't include the avalanche of other monetization opportunities we won't have space to cover here).
You CAN do this. And if you look at it reasonably, it's a much better idea than 99% of what is being offered in most eBooks, high pressure product launches and top secret "clubs".
