Way's to Create a Great Customer Relationship

Primarily I am involved in online marketing in many different ways. But this is all about customer service. So it doesn't matter what platform your businesses use, they are customers and the same rules apply.

A great customer relationship is something that should be at the forefront of your mind with your business. You should be able to clearly communicate with them and gain empathy in your approach with them. This will pay dividends long term.

It is not so difficult to act like this when you own the business but it needs to be instilled in all of your staff.

The point is that everyone likes to be appreciated so try and go that little bit further with your customer. Maybe now and again offer a slight discount or maybe a coupon. It might just come down to telling them how much you value their custom. This is the kind of behaviour that keeps them coming back for more.

If a customer has a problem then show genuine concern. There is nothing worse than them getting the impression that you don't care about their problem. Conversely an issue handled well and you will have them telling all their friends about their experience. That is worth a lot, so keep on focusing on the needs of the customer and they will be back for more.

We all know that mistakes can be made. When this happens admit to them and do everything possible to compensate for their inconvenience. You will find that customers will respond in a positive manner to this and will be completely put off by you not admitting you were wrong.

If the customer is wrong (yes it does happen!) then you must apologise and explain clearly your companies procedures or show them where they have made a mistake. You must always be humble and polite when explaining and they will be more likely to understand and accept without it becoming an issue.

If a customer requires a refund for whatever reason then you most process that transaction in a timely and efficient manner. Don't make it difficult for them to get their refund. It's situations such as this which will put them off if not handled correctly. If they are happy, they will trust you and will return. It is funny how short sighted some business owners can be with this. I think it is probably because the benefits of handling things correctly are hidden, but they are there and will fuel your business for the future and beyond. There are many different ways to show generosity to your customers and this will help you in the long term. Just think how you would like to be treated and suddenly it becomes easier.

It is very easy to make the mistake of seeing your customers as a meal ticket. This will show through so try and thing of being able to help them with whatever it is they want. Continually be aware that it is because of them that your business is successful. If you know it, then it is always good to use their name when you can. It shows you are being courteous and shows respect.

By displaying real human emotions of concern and humility and by showing appreciation, generosity and respect you'll build a good, solid relationship with your customers. When you build a solid relationship, you'll also build a solid foundation for your business success.

If you do show all these characteristics discussed you will develop a very strong relationship with your customers. When this happens you are building a very strong foundation for the future.
